Eyepatch – Do you wear an eyepatch after cataract surgery?

Although you can wear an eyepatch after cataract surgery, and it would largely carry out the same protective tasks as an eye shield will, you’re more likely to be asked to wear an eye shield than an eye patch after cataract surgery.

The reason being that an eye shield enables you to still be able to see from the eye that has been operated on, whilst it’s protected from dust and other particulates that could irritate your eye before it has healed properly.

You’ll likely be asked to wear your eye shield for between 24 and 48 hours after your cataract surgery has taken place.
